Dear Three Rivers Community Schools Parents/Guardians,

This letter is to inform you that there will be a change in two of our district policies as it relates to: 1) early dismissal of students and  2) the public use of tobacco while on school premises. The policy revisions were approved at the December 3, 2019 school board meeting and will go into effect on Monday, February 3, 2020.

Policy 5230- Late Arrival and Early Dismissal: This revision requires the presentation of photo identification by a parent/guardian or designee to authorize the early dismissal of a student. This change in policy will go into effect on Monday, February 3, 2020.

Policy 7434- Use of Tobacco on School Premises: While policy is already in place that prohibits student and staff use of tobacco products at all times; this revision prohibits the public use of tobacco products on campus at all times (twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week). The term “tobacco” includes any product that contains tobacco, is derived from tobacco, contains nicotine, or e-cigarettes and other electronic smoking devices (including but not limited to "JUUL's"), but does not include any cessation product approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for use as a medical treatment to reduce or eliminate nicotine or tobacco dependence. This prohibition applies to school grounds, athletic events and any school related event.
