Welcome New Hires

Mrs. Stemaly-GSRP

Idy Stemaly is joining the Hoppin team as our new GSRP lead teacher.  She studied Early Childhood Education at Western Michigan University and has 7 years of teaching experience in our school district.  She's the mother of two children, Micah, who is a 2018 Three Rivers graduate and Bette, who is just beginning her Wildcat journey as a kindergartner this year.  Idy is married to Mr. Stemaly, one of our district's amazing elementary art teachers. Mrs. Stemaly is so excited to be back in the classroom, working with the wonderful families here at Hoppin Elementary School!

Mrs. Bailey-5th Grade

I grew up in the Upper Peninsula in Pickford, Mi. After high school I attended Saginaw Valley State University where I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. During my time at SVSU I was a member of the Women's Track and Field team where I collected many honors and awards. I was named an All-American Thrower in 2007 when I placed 8th in the nation in the Women's weight throw. After SVSU I started my teaching career in the U.P. where I taught 5th grade for 10 years between Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter School and Pickford Public Schools. During this time, I also obtained my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. During my 10 years of teaching I also had the wonderful opportunity to coach. I coached high school girls' basketball for 9 years, was a throws coach with the track teams for 10 years, coached Jr. High track and Cross Country for 2 years. I love being able to coach and pass on my knowledge to young athletes. In June of 2018 I married my husband, Matt Bailey, and moved to Schoolcraft. Matt and I operate a family business, Bailey's Meats and help with the family farm. We are expecting our first Child in November and can't wait to begin this new chapter in our lives. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, no matter if it is teaching in the classroom, 4-H or athletics. I also enjoy reading, cooking, helping on the farm, traveling and history.
