On Monday, October 5th, 2020, Robert Gordon - Director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued an Emergency Order under MCL 333.2253 restricting gathering sizes, requiring face coverings in public spaces, and placing limitations on bars and other venues. Under MCL 333.2253, if the MDHHS director determines that control of an epidemic is necessary to protect the public health, the director may prohibit by emergency order the gathering of people for any purpose and may establish procedures to be followed during the epidemic to insure continuation of essential public health services and enforcement of health laws.

This order impacts our schools by requiring masks for all staff and students in Elementary through High School. This order is effective immediately until October 30, 2020. Middle school and high school athletics are required to wear face coverings during active participation and non-active participation in football, soccer, and volleyball. Cross country, tennis, and golf are not required to wear face coverings during active participation, but are during non-active participation.
