Gina Garcia

B. Music, Grand Canyon University

Gina Garcia received her Bachelor’s Degree for Elementary Education with a minor in Elementary Music Education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. She has graduate hours in reading and music education, mostly through WMU. She has taught music in all of the elementary buildings in Three Rivers since 2002. Prior to that, she was a classroom teacher for ten years in Arizona and also homeschooled her own children. She is married and has two grown sons, also involved in music. She has taught piano lessons since she was a teenager and plays the piano on the worship team at Riverside Church. Her hobbies include traveling, scrapbooking, photography, and reading.


 Joel Moore

Joel MooreJoel Moore received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Music Education from Western Michigan University under the choral leadership of Dr. Craig Arnold and Dr. Joe Miller. He is currently entering his thirteenth year of teaching secondary vocal music education, ten of which have been for the Three Rivers Community Schools district.

In addition to consistent superior and excellent ratings at district and state events, Mr. Moore’s choirs have been invited to perform at the MSVMA Michigan Youth Arts Festival Ensemble Finals in 1999, 2006, and 2007, the MSVMA Ensemble Hour at the Midwestern Conference for School Vocal and Instrumental Music in 2001, the Michigan Music Conference in 2007, and the State Capitol in Lansing. Choirs from Three Rivers have been awarded first place with Superior ratings at festivals held in Sandusky, OH; Detroit, MI; St. Louis, MO; Hershey, PA, Chicago, IL; Louisville, KY; Cincinnati, OH; Orlando, FL; and New York City, NY; as well as named the Overall Outstanding Choir from all divisions in seven of the nine cities. In addition, two new arrangements of choral literature, “Hold On” and “Sinner, Please Don’ Let Dis Harves’ Pass,” were written for Mr. Moore’s ensembles by published composer Stacey Gibbs following a 2008 performance at the Brazeal Dennard Negro Spiritual Festival. Both pieces will be published within the next year.

Mr. Moore has served the Michigan School Vocal Music Association as District 11 Co-Manager, District Choral Festival Host, Chamber Choir Festival Host, and Adjudicator for district events. He was recently elected to conduct the MSVMA 7-8-9 SATB State Honors Choir in January of 2012. Mr. Moore serves as Minister of Music at New Hope Assembly in Three Rivers and teaches private voice lessons to 20 students. He resides in the city of Three Rivers with his supportive wife Kathy and three children Joshua, Caleb, and Natalie.


 Bryan J. VanTollBVanToll

B. Music, Western Michigan University
M. Music, Western Michigan University

Mr. VanToll is in his ninth year of teaching at Three Rivers Community Schools.  He earned his Master of Music in Music Education degree in 2014, and his Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2009, both from Western Michigan University.  Mr. VanToll directs the Wildcat Marching Band, HS Symphony Band, HS Concert Band, 8th Grade Middle School Band, 7th Grade Intermediate Band, and teaches the woodwind and percussion students in the 6th Grade Beginning Band.  In 2017, he was named the Three Rivers Rotary Club Distinguished Educator of the Year.  Mr. VanToll currently serves in the MSBOA as President of District XI.  His primary instrument is the alto saxophone, and he serves as section leader of the saxophones in the Kalamazoo Concert Band.
 


Dan Roberts

Mr. Roberts is in his twenty-second year of teaching at Three Rivers Community Schools.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Counseling from Ferris State University, and has served the students of Three Rivers in many capacities — ranging from history teacher, to director of the HS Aristocrats, to assisting the High School drum line and overall band program.  Mr. Roberts is currently assisting the Wildcat Marching Band, HS Pep Band, and leads summer and fall drum line.


 


Mai Lan Vo

MsVoMS Assistant Band Director

Ms. Vo is in her sixth year of teaching at Three Rivers Community Schools.  She earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Western Michigan University in 2011.  Her primary instrument is the trombone.  Ms. Vo assists the Wildcat Marching Band, 8th Grade Middle School Band, 7th Grade Intermediate Band, and teaches the brass students in the Beginning Band.
