The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year 

(Available for the 23-24 School Year)

  • Applicant must be a registered, active member of a Boy Scout Troop, Varsity Scout Team, or Venturing Crew chartered to an American Legion Post, Auxiliary Unit of Sons of the American Legion Squadron or son or grandson of a Legionnaire or Auxiliary member.
  • Applicant must have received the Eagle Scout Award, be an active member of his religious institution and must have received the appropriate Boy Scout religious emblem, and have demonstrated practical citizenship in church, school, Scouting and community.
  • Applicant must have reached his 15th birthday and be enrolled in high school at the time of selection. Eagle Scouts still in high school who reach their 18th birthday during the nomination year remain eligible if otherwise qualified.
  • The American Legion honors the Eagle Scout of the Year at the national convention with a $10,000 scholarship. The three runners-up get $2,500.

American Legion Auxiliary Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members

  • Candidates for this award shall be/shall have been Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary; said member to have held Junior membership in the American Legion Auxiliary for the past three years and must hold a membership card for the current year; applicant must continue her membership in the American Legion auxiliary during the four-year-scholarship period.

Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation

  • Winners selected on basis of scholarship, leadership and dedication to the civil rights principles of Rosa L. Parks, whose historic stand against racial prejudice in 1955 has brought her national recognition.
  • 2.5 GPA or above, describe financial need, document active participation in civic and community service

  • Project Yellow Light is designed for to bring about change in your peers so that they develop safe driving habits.

Life Lessons

  • Available to any student who has suffered the death of a parent or guardian.
  • Students need to submit an essay (500 words max) or video (3-minutes max) describing how losing a parent or guardian affected them emotionally and financially. Essays should describe the impact that life insurance (or the lack thereof) had on family finances and on the ability of students to fund college costs.

Carl Parsell Scholarship Fund, Michigan Association of Police 

(Available for the 23-24 School Year)

  • The scholarship is $2500
  • Scholarship candidates must be a resident of the State of Michigan.
  • Scholarship candidates must be a member of, or immediately related to a member of, one of the following organizations: Michigan Association of Police, Michigan Association of Fire
  • Fighters or Michigan Association of Public Employees.
  • Scholarship candidates must have, or will have completed, a high school education or its equivalent, on or prior to June 30.
  • Scholarship candidates must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors or felonies.
  • Scholars must be enrolled at the time of receipt of the scholarship as a full time student in an accredited institution of higher learning. This would include attendance at any United States accredited university, college, community college, junior college, two or four year accredited degree-granting institution, or vocational training institution that grants a certification or license.

Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship, and Incentive Scholarship 

(Available for the 23-24 School Year)

  • 20 one year $2500 scholarships for both the Technical Scholarship and Incentive Scholarship.  Upon successful completion of first year, students may apply for a four year renewable $5000 scholarship..
  • Students must be going into the following majors geology, geophysics, physics, chemical, civil, electrical, geological, geophysical, mechanical or petroleum engineering.
  • Students must be attending one of the college institutions on this list.
  • Must upload transcripts, standardized test scores and contact information for two individuals to provide recommendations on the students behalf.

Horatio Alger National Scholarship

  • High school junior who is intending to pursue a college education
  • 106 scholarships of $25,000
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Critical financial need, preferably $55,000 or lower adjusted gross income per family.
  • Involvement in co-curricular and community service activities and minimum grade point average of 2.0
  • Students must submit an online application and one letter of support from an adult who understands adversity and can describe the unique circumstances in your life.

American Legion Legacy Scholarship

(Available for the 23-24 School Year)

  • This scholarship is available to public enrolled students who are either a high school senior or high school graduate.
  • Those eligible must be a child/children or legally adopted child/children or a child of a spouse by a prior marriage or dependent child as defined by the United States Armed Services for active duty personnel of the United Sates military and National Guard, and military reservists who were federalized and die on active duty on or after September 11, 2001, or more than 50% disabled.

  • Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA if enrolling into a trade, community, or technical college, and a 3.0 GPA if enrolling into an university.

  • Scholarships range from $1500 to $2500.
